Don Malik is a 25 year old rapper based in Seoul, South Korea. He debuted under Daze Alive in 2014.
The young rapper is no stranger to controversy. In 2017, he was involved in a diss battle with VMC founder Deepflow. The same year, he was set to perform at the South by Southwest festival in Texas but was denied entry to the US and sent back home. In 2018, he and Daze Alive parted ways following a sexual harassment allegation, though later Malik claimed innocence and said that the label had forced him to apologize.
After a brief hiatus, Malik came back strong in 2020 with his album MALIK THE CACTUS FLOWER. This album went on to be nominated for Album of the Year at the Korean Hip Hop Awards 2021, though it lost to Bill Stax’s Detox.
Following the label announcement, Don Malik released his latest album PAID IN SEOUL on October 19, 2021. The album features new label mates Leellamarz and Keem Hyo-Eun, as well as veteran rapper Justhis, and others. Could he be up for an Album of the Year nomination for two consecutive years? Time will tell.
With his unwavering determination in the face of adversity, Malik has proved he truly is “Malik The Cactus Flower.” We look forward to his future works, and wish him success in all of his endeavors.
